Inconvenient Truth and Good News | What's in the name... God's word tells us that Christians should be the fragrance of Christ. To those who are perishing this "fragrance" is the aroma of death. To those who are being saved this "fragrance" is the aroma of life to life. The reality that all people are dead in their trespasses and sins and in need of a Savior (the only Savior, Jesus Christ) is an inconvenient truth that the world and popular culture attempt to ignore and suppress in unrighteousness (cf Romans 1:18-32). |
So, why should this site be of interest to you?
| | It is our hope that this site may be a resource to those who appreciate sound doctrine which results in the application of "right theology." What is right theology? Right theology is derived from what God's word, the Bible, says about God, His will, and His ways. We cannot love and serve God if we do not have a relationship with Him. Our relationship with Him cannot blossom if we do not take time to "get to know God." An intimate relationship with God results from understanding how He thinks, what He desires of our relationship with Him, and what His expectations are. Remember, we belong to Him. He wrote His Bible to communicate with us. It was written to be understood and followed. It is our roadmap for life. This site is all about understanding and applying God's timeless truths to today's problems. After all, the word of the Lord stands and endures forever and this is His word which is given to us (1 Peter 1:25). His Word is so simple a child can understand it and so profound, so deep, that we can ponder its endless applications throughout our lives. Psalm 119: 105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." | |
Okay, so what's theology got to do with loving, learning about, and following God?
| | One of evangelicism's mindless mantras is "doctrine divides but worship unites." At first glance this might sound good. However, anyone giving this saying an ounce of logical analysis will understand that one cannot worship whom one does not know. Theology comes from two words, "theos" and "logos." Theology is the study of God. If you are married, think back to your courtship days when you carefully hung on and studied every aspect possible of your "spouse to be." You sought to understand their words, their ways, and their preferences. You noticed special traits and preferences. You paid close attention to their desires. That was "spouse-to-be-ology." We study theology so that we can love God more and more each day and serve Him as an expression of our loving devotion. Theology comes from the study of His love letter to us, the Bible. If you don't like theology, the study of God, if you don't like His doctrines, then you don't like Him (and that's a big problem). Think about it. You have work-ology--the study and understanding of your workplace responsibilities. You have family-ology--the study, consideration, and understanding of the family members God has entrusted to your stewardship. And, last and not least you have theology--the study of God, born out of the love of God arising from our special relationship with Him through the substitutionary death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of His Son. |
